Latest Developments
The Section 53 Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act approval has been formally revoked.

This follows a previously announced dispute arising with gas producer Tetra4 about the solar plant development encroaching on its production right.

Tetra4 is a subsidiary of natural gas and helium producer Renergen.

Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) director-general Jacob Mbele ruled in favour of Tetra4, upholding its appeal against a DMRE regional manager’s decision concerning land-use rights.

Mbele found procedural defects in the approval process by the regional manager, specifically that Springbok failed to consult Tetra4 as required under regulations.

SOLA Group has received the decision and is considering the next steps, the group’s assets MD Katherine Persson has said.

The DMRE's decision has directed the parties to consult further and provide feedback to the regional manager within 30 days, Engineering News reported on April 10.

Key Contracts, Suppliers and Consultants
None stated.
